Blogging from Word 2007

If you can read this post, then Word 2007 can successfully post to dasBlog. Why do I love this? Cause I hate the spell checker in every other applications (including BlogJet). Office has hands down the best proofing tools out there (and we use them in Windows Live Mail as well).

BTW – I’m currently on vacation. Right now I’m on Fripp Island in South Carolina attending a wedding. Earlier this week Lora and I spent time in Charleston, SC and Washington, DC.

update: looks like Word is passing in the dateTime in this format:

<member><name>dateCreated</name><value><dateTime.iso8601>2006-05-13T14:59:40Z</dateTime.iso8601></value></member>

Which dasBlog doesn't like. The format should be:

20060513T14:59:40

Omar, have you ever tried SpellCatcher X (for Mac)? There's a version for Windows at well. Just terrific!

Is this from Beta1TR? I can't find the blogging capability, although I've started to see posts discussing it.

It's in the upcoming Beta 2.

Actually, this is the right way to send a DateTime according to the MetaWeblog spec: http://www.leeholmes.com/blog/BloggingFromPowerShellEditingPostsWithTheMetaWeblogAPI.aspx. I'm not sure that the Z is supported, though.

How did you strip "iso8601" from the dateTime element before publishing? For the life of me I cannot figure out how to do that. :-\

Ok, I downloaded Fiddler and figured it out. I also filed a bug with the Office team for them to investigate from their end.

Omar,

i didn't find any other way to contact you, so this ends up in your comments section in a totally unrelated post. pls. feel free to delete this comment as it has nothing to do woth blogging and word...

i just wanted to let you know how much the whole windows live mail experience sucks. at least for me. i kept reading about all the goodness in your blog, and i was very anxious to take a look at live mail. so, month ago, i asked to take part in the beta. and indeed, i got invited. in march. on the 8th of march i also received a 2gig mailbox for my hotmail account. since then, i got another invitation to the live mail beta. i got an invitation to the live mail beta for mobiles. only, i've never seen live mail so far. all i see is the old hotmail interface.

the livemail blog isn't any help at all. there is a blog entry that says, one should contact support incase the interface stays the same as in hotmail. so - i did contact support. twice. i _never_ received any kind of answer at all.

ontop of that, today i got a nice email which pointed to the "live mail support satisfactory survey". this is a joke, right? your support guys don't even answer when beeing contacted - and you guys actually think there could be any kind of satisfaction?

this just sucks on every level i can imagine.

Hey Thomas, just wait until you actually get to use Live Mail, you'll realise you wasted the last 2 months for something that's just as bad, if not worse, than Hotmail.

Btw, Word should not be associated with the Internet in any way WHATSOEVER.

I was going through the help for the blogging support (blog help.mht). It says "dasBlog - Not Supported in Beta 2 will be supported in the future." Are you using a later version of Word 2007?
