Internet Connection Sharing for Blackjack II

I loves me some internets and hackers.

Looks like you can now get Internet Connection Sharing working on the Samsung Blackjack II. Wohoo. This removed one monster deal breaker on this device.

The instructions, and files can be found on this post at Howard Forums.

Basically:

  1. Download the BJ.WM6.ICS.Enable.cab file
  2. Download the secpolicies.cab file
  3. Transfer both cab files to your My Documents folder
  4. Install secpolicies.cab and reboot
  5. Install BJ.WM6.ICS.Enable.cab and reboot
  6. navigate to \My Documents and click on Certs.cab and reboot

I am now officially a happy camper. Both battery life and ICS now working.

It's important to note that ICS works over USB and via Bluetooth PAN. Super sweet.

note to self: next phone, wait 1 month before purchasing after release. not sure if this is possible.

Hey, Omar: Congratulations! I can't get ICS working over USB on my Moto Q9h Global. Have you been able to make it work on your wife's phone? If so, any tips? Thanks!

wish it were true. I connect for a few seconds then disconnect with a "remote party disconnected this conversation" error. :(

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, sir!
Just got a BJII and thought: "damn! no ICS!"

I tried to get this to work and became increasingly frustrated until I scrolled down on the ICS connection screen on my BlackJack II and changed Network Connection to "MediaNet" - now it works like a charm.

Before I go back to the ATT store and try to get a new phone - I did this and it worked great. Then I went back to do a USB cable sync with my PC through the Sync Manager - I got a "USB Device Malfunctioned message" from XP and the PC no longer recognized my BJII. I could no longer sync. All the settings were correct on the BJII - USB, Active Sync, .... Tried uninstalling the above modules from the BJII. Tried a soft, then a hard reset on the BJII. Tried un-installing and re-installing Active Sync. No joy...... Anybody experience this?

I had to run appunlock.cab (google it) before this process worked for me.

Hope that helps

Ken,
Check inside your USB settings to make sure that the 'Advanced Options' item isn't checked. I've had that do what you are explaining before.
