Google Maps

OH MY, this is so cool.

http://maps.google.com (via Julien Couvreur).

I don't get how they make money on this one yet.

Of course, I just created a SlickRun (the sweetest application launcher) shortcut for this:

magicword=map
filename=iexplore.exe
parameters=http://maps.google.com/maps?q=$W$

then type map sfo and you will get a map of the SFO airport.

For MSN Desktop Search that would be:

@map,http://maps.google.com/maps?q=$w

Omar,

If you like SlickRun, you may be interested in a program I just wrote that uses the Caps Lock key as a new modifier key, which when pressed in conjunction with a particular letter or number key searches within a preset website for currently selected text. Of course, if you don't press a letter or number key while the Caps Lock is depressed, it simply toggles "all caps" mode. I plan on adding a Google Maps channel tonight when I get back to my PC (you could also easily create your own). If you get a chance,
check it out (http://www.capslink.com) and let me know what you think!

Money: no ads yet, but I'm sure they'll add highly-targeted text ads, or possibly pin-point ads live on the map that can be turned off.

I think the yellow pages has shown that there's a pretty good business model for geo-targeted business listings. This probably has more potential for getting them ad revenue than most of their other web applications.

Nice - I love the Slickrun tip. Thanks Omar!
