Show/Hide Filenames in XP Thumbnails View

Did you know that if you hold down the SHIFT key when selecting Thumbnails View or opening a folder, the Filenames for the items will not be displayed? I didn't, but just found out because for some reason I had no filenames in any of my Thumbnails view and could not figure out why. This seems like an obscure feature since I could find no mention of it anywhere, and it took me 15 min to search for the answer on the web.

Here is an example. While this is usefull for Picture Views, it's usless for looking at folders/files.

Hi,

I knew that one, it's "documented" in the Tips section of Tweak UI.

Ummm ... can you tell me how you got the filenames back? I've tried changing the view, but I can't get them back.

Karan-

Switch to a different view like icons, then hold the shift key and switch back to thumbnails.

I tried that Omar and it didn't seam to work. I eventually got it changed back by changing my folder view options to NOT save each folders view. I then went to a folder that I hadn't hidden the names on, changed to Thumbnail view and went back to the other folder. That seemed to fix it.

I just had to tell you, my sanity has been saved! I have had no file names showing on 'my pictures' for over a month and it was driving me mad. I put out a couple newsletters for groups and use my "home-made" pictures and such in the folders. I love to look at my thumbnails now with the files showing. thank you thank you I found you through google after typing "my file names are hidden in my picture"
I appreciate you so much!
I went to view then details and held the shift back to view then thumbnails
