Broken Plane

So this past thursday, I was headed home from SeaTac and was greated by a Boeing 737-400 with a repair man, one of those rental crane things, a dirty rag and some WD-40 I guess fixing our tail rudder. This is like the 10th mechanical error I've had this year. It doesn't even phase Alaska (or their customers). The other San Francisco flight was delated from 1 pm to 5:40 pm.

I think Alaska should change their departure times to:

  • Morning (depart by 9 am)
  • Afternoon (depart by 3 pm)
  • Evening (depart by 9 pm)
Just so they can meet the only expectations they can reasonably attain as an airline.

Jesus h fuckin christ that would scare the living hell out of me. I am a nervous flyer as it is. If I saw that I wouldn't get on the plane. Yeah I'm that bad.

Psst - silly typo - not a 747 :)

Friday night, ARuff went came back through SJC and reported that a flight had been delayed until ~3am - so they handed out blankets and let people sleep on the floor in SJC. Sheesh

I was once at DFW and,
1. the plane had to have its landing gear fixed, something about the hydraulics.
2. ended up getting bumped from the flight to one about 5 hours later. Good cause i ended up not flying on the broken plane. Bad because it was one of those days in Dallas where the smog is horrible. It was almost brown outside.

Amen, Omar. I commute to Silicon Valley from Seattle and the number of flights Alaska has cancelled or delayed has been so frustrating that I'm switching to SouthWest for my trips going forward.
