Explorer Status Bar fixed in XP SP2

Holy cow, how did I miss this gem?

[Tony Schreiner]

New Pet Peeves Fixed

The disappearing status bar bug should be gone for good. We also fixed most of the scenarios where the URL you were typing in the address bar would get stomped or disrupted if a navigation happened while you were typing.

I could go NUTTY just turning that status bar back on only to have it disappear for no apparent reason. This alone is worth the upgrade ;-).

Hi!
I just installed the SP2 and the status bar is playing tricks on me.
I didn't have this problem before, now, the Status Bar won't stay on no matter what!
What's going on???

SP2 set:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\NoSaveSettings=1

Changing this to 0 fixed my issues with the Explorer Status bar.

No matter what u do, the STATUS BAR in Windows Explorer (XP Pro, SP2) keeps wanishing. I haven't seen any reference for this annoyance at
Microsoft support websites. Let's be clear here: it is the STATUS bar in WINDOWS explorer the one that doesn't stay.

This worked for me. Add the following to your registry:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"StatusBarOther"=dword:00000001

The next time I opened Windows Explorer, the status bar stayed for every folder.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"StatusBarOther"=dword:00000001

what does that mean does it mean a string value named StatusBarOther with dword:00000001 as the data?
