So long Acrobat Reader

Thanks to Scott Hanselman, I have put Adobe Acrobat reader out of its misery. Good riddens! I won’t miss your long boot times, amazingly bad updating story, and endless prompts to download other random Adobe software I don’t want. Plus I won’t have an aggravating experience viewing PDFs in IE.

Foxit is great.

What version were you using before? Ever since v7, Reader loads with no delay (it's v6 that was horrible in this regard). Also, I've never seen it prompt to download other software once (can't imagine why it would). Don't know what the "story" is about bad updating, since the word seems used out of context. I've not had any issues updating patch releases, if that's what you're talking about. And finally, clicking PDF links from IE isn't aggravating at all if the "Display PDF in browser" is not enabled, which is the first thing I do when installing Reader on a new machine.

Tried it out but unfortunately it cannot read the DRM used by The University of Phoenix Online. This renders the software useless as most of what I read are copyrighted text books. Once I graduate though I'll revisit this program though :-) Keep letting us know about these cool finds, between advice from you, Ed Bott and Torres my internet life has become a lot simpler.

Many thanks - Acrobat has been bugging me for over a year as it has got slower and slower. Foxit appears to work as required!
