Why am I awake past 12 am?

I'm so screwed. I haven't stayed up past 11 pm for the past 4 months. Why? Cause I have a baby that wakes up at night and requires feeding. I also have to wake up at the ungodly hour of whenever she wakes up (usually around 7am) which for me is about an hour earlier then I'm used to.

Wah Wah you say. Well you know how when your up waay past when you are normally up you realize your past the point of no return. You see my body needs 8 hours of sleep minimum or bad things happen later in the week. Now when I go to bed at 1 am the following will happen:

  1. my wife will notice and go "What the hell"!!
  2. When the baby cries and it's my turn to go feed her, she will either a) go do it herself even though it's my turn or b) I'll do it and get even less sleep making me even grumpier tomorrow
  3. In the morning my wife will ask me what time I went to bed at which point I will make something up but then reluctantly tell her I was up late "working" when in fact I was working and writing blog posts because I never have time to do either any more

Either way I'm screwed and will require even more coffee then normal (which is bad since my caffeine intake has only gotten worse since those dammed Starbucks iCup machines appeared at work).

Sigh.

Your wife married a real prince. I give you 24 months before the divorce. Funny thing is, in 24 months, the baby will be more mature than you.

Wow, what a rich comment.

Have you been lurking on this blog, waiting to make a comment like that? You're mature enough to do so anonymously?

There is nothing about my situation that I'd trade for anything else. You don't know me, my wife or my daugther.

Every once in a while I reserve the right to whine on my blog. Making the mental and emotional challenge from no kids to kids isn't easy as pie, but it's well worth the it.

We are all humans after all.

Anonymous comments automatically disqualify themselves from any thoughtful discourse. Probably written by someone who's been through the rigors of raising children years ago and only selectively remembers the highlights, and not how he or she cried like a wallowing pig when things got tough.

In any case, your post is a sobering reminder of what I will face when June rolls around. I'm trying to get a lot done before then. :)

Speaking of which, I've read that the fact that we have a selective and imperfect memory is essential to the propagation of the human race. If women remembered accurately the pain of childbirth, they wouldn't do it again.

Just delete it Omar - someone's just tryin to get under your skin (or perhaps was just teasing you). I feel your pain - twice over. My kiddos are 5 and 2 and still don't sleep. You get used to it.

Does Lora read your blogs? Might was to consider that before you post about tricking her.

1) sometimes she does and
2) I wouldn't really trick her, I was just whining.
