WikiSpam

I am getting a ton of LinkSpam on my dasBlog Wiki. It's driving me nuts. Like 3 times a day! In about a few days I'm going to hook up the same CAPTCHA that dasBlog has to FlexWiki and be done with them. The current antispam features of FlexWiki aren't helping.

Just as confirmation, even just the MT blacklisting in dasBlog has worked wonders for me. I used to get about 3 comment spams a day - but none since the blacklisting's been implemented.

The only problem left is trackback spam...

For the anti-spam measures in FlexWiki to be effective (on flexwiki.com, for example), the site needed a set of users who would watch for changes, identify the links that were being spammed, and then add those to the blacklist. For a few weeks, it was a decent amount of work but thanks to the vigilance of the FlexWiki community, the spammers have gone away.

There's a key message here, though: Wikis can beat spam and other vandalism *as long as there's a large-enough enthusiastic community* around the Wiki. If you're running a Wiki where there are few contributing users, then the spammers will be able to win.

A CAPTCHA probably won't stop the link spam on your Wiki: the stuff coming at FlexWiki.com was almost entirely entered by hand.

Looks like the Wiki got hit again. The Homepage has a boatload of links to some porn site. I tried to revert it back to the previous version, but it wouldn't let me.

May be you should remove it and put up a plain html non editable site, its hard , a ratings problem leads to this mess usually the high the rating the more the spam.i tried helping out a few wikis that got all the main pages with pharma well no use...i'm going back to the roots of the web before all this spam...
