Wiping a Hard Disk

I would never return a hard disk in a machine I’ve used to the manufacturer, sell it to a third party etc without using Boot and Nuke to wipe it clean.

You can grab the ISO, burn it to a CD and then be rest assured that your data is gone forever.

I'm the same with regards to Harddrives. My secondard laptop harddrive decided to develop errors in the first couple of sectors, making it unsuable as a bootdrive. I contacted dell and they shipped a replacement. Before I sent the drive back, I used the Hitachi drive utilities to low-level format the drive 3 times before returning.

I don't want Dell to know what pr0n sites I've been visiting :-)
